Introduction
Sony decided to remove all drivers for Windows 7 and older devices, so now, downloading drivers from the original Sony website is impossible.
However, by simply using two websites, you can find many of them in a few seconds.
Disclaimer
The websites we are about to use are sonyvaiodriver.com and dose.0wnz.at. Alternatively, you can also use the archive.org version of the Sony FTP.
We offer no warranty on what you will find on websites external to the VAIO Library. See VAIO Library's General Disclaimer for more informations.
The information we are using are considered valid at the moment of writing this guide.
The steps
We take as an example the research of a NVIDIA graphics driver for a VAIO VPCZ11X9R.
- The first step is to find your Sony VAIO model. Most of the time, your model's name will be written on the bezel of the display. Otherwise, you should be able to find your model on the back of your machine, however most of the time the model on the bezel is more accurate.
- Now, visit sonyvaiodriver.com and inside the search box write your model (in this case, VPCZ11X9R) and press "GO".
- You will find a list of drivers, divided by OS version. In our case, we want to download "Preinstalled Drivers and Utilities – Graphics Driver NVIDIA" under "Sony VAIO VPCZ11X9R/B Windows 7 64 bits drivers".
- You can see that there's a hyperlink that refers to the old Sony FTP website. This is a dead link because server has been shut down. So just right-click on it and copy the link. In our example, "ftp://ftp.vaiolink.com/PUB/VAIO/Original/Z11_Graphics_Driver_NVIDIA.zip". If the link does not start with "ftp://ftp.vaiolink.com", this method will not work. Please use another guide.
- Now, paste it your browser, and simply replace "ftp://" with "https://dose.0wnz.at/" and press enter.
- You are now downloading your requested driver.
Problems
